Ten Days to Go and the Pressure's On

Okay, so I have ten days left to finish, beta, and post my Torchwood casestory. I have about 5000 words left to write and I don't know how many beta go throughs to do before it's done. I should totally be working on my beta notes, but instead I've written ~350 words of a Bruce/Natasha fic that I've had floating around in my head. Now that it's on paper, maybe I can finally focus on Torchwood, although, honestly, all I want to do is go play in the Avengers sandbox, both with my Bruce/Natasha fic and workerbee73's request of Nat!crush fic, which I have a partial outline for. Right now I need to focus on Torchwood.

*deep breath* Let's do this.

So I totally get your problem. I just finished a Torchwood thingy of my own - a collaboration fest that was a great experience! But now I don't have anything on my "must-do" list for Torchwood so I've been totally playing in the Avengers sandbox. I do have a Torchwood story that is I am working on as well, but it's not anything promised to anyone, so I can focus on it when I want. In the meantime I'm getting preoccupied with my own Avengers crush - anything to do with Hawkeye or Cap. I luv them. :) Anyway, I can't wait to read your giant Torchwood story! And Avengers stories from you! Yippie! Good luck finishing it and wrapping it up!

I'm signed up for the Torchwood collab fest as well, although my partner has gone AWOL and I've been the one setting up times/dates for writing, if either of us don't forget. I don't think it's ever going to be finished, if we don't want to put in the effort.

For Hawkeye, have you been to be_compromised for Clint/Nastasha or clint_hawkeye for straight Hawkeye? I'm a member of Be Compromised and it's a ton of fun. Lots of laughs to be had there. I haven't found anything for Captain America yet.

Thanks! I've been working on the Torchwood fic since New Year's Eve, so it will be a huge relief when it's done. I've also written Avengers fic already if you want to check it out. It's Two Sides of a Coin. Just check under the Avengers tag on my journal. :)

Thanks for the encouragement! I got my beta work done today, which is the thing I usually stall on, although my brain hurt afterward. I just have two more sections left to write, and I can write fast if I want to. I usually get the majority of what I want to happen in a section down then fine tune it after.

I have so many ideas floating around in my head, and bits of notes, prompts, and ideas scattered everywhere, I usually can't get to all of them. I have to choose my favorites and write those, although the Bruce/Natasha scene would not let me go. I think I can use it in a fic idea I have, so it will all work out. :)

Yay! I'm terrible when it comes to betas, in that I hardly ever use one. (Bad inkvoices! You will not improve!)

Tell me about it. I always laugh when people interview authors and ask them where they get their ideas from. Surely the problem is more how you get them all written! The answer to which seems to be just get on with it, heh.

*laughs* I like using betas because I feel like my work is a bit too "stiff" otherwise, plus I like the additional perspective on it. I have to be careful about who I use, though, as sometimes I get "This is great!" when I feel it can be better.

Would you mind betaing my Bruce/Natasha fic? I'm looking to finish up my big bang hopefully today, except for beta work, so I'll be able to focus on it now. I'm kind of concerned that I won't get Bruce right, as I don't really focus on him, and would like a second opinion.

I was always shy about asking people to beta for me. People just seemed to have betas, like they appeared magically overnight and I didn't know how to get one, heh. I've used Perfect Imagination, which is a Harry Potter beta site a few times and I love that that exists, and I'm trying to be better about asking people, because I don't tend to get much constructive criticism in comments after a fic is up.

Sure, sling it my way. Won't be done as fast as Two Sides of a Coin though, heh, and Bruce isn't a strength of mine. Plus usual disclaimers: rambles may occur etc *grins*.
