Got a Tumblr and Other News
Nov. 25th, 2012 10:06 pmOkay, so I got a Tumblr mainly for the purpose of helping a Twitter peep figure out how to change her theme on it. It's The Forgotten Bookshelf. If anyone could point me in the direction of some awesome blogs to follow, or give me their Tumblr link to follow, I would be super grateful.
In other news, I still haven't started my Secret Santa fic for
be_compromised, and I'm starting to get concerned. I'm still not any closer to completely figuring out what I'm going to do for it, and I need to get my butt in gear. When I've got the writing mojo, it will be done quickly, but it's the sitting down and finding time to write that's the hard part at the moment. I'm three weeks away from finishing the theory part of my program, though, so I should have more time to write soon. That just gives me...five days to write, edit, and send it in. Oops.
I feel kind of envious of the people who seem like they have unlimited time and ideas to write about. I tend to have one idea at a time, and I'll write in quick spurts for the rough drafts and take longer in the editing stage. I always know what I'm doing mostly, though, which helps when I'm writing. It will just be minor things that need to be worked out or pop up during the rough draft stage that I've never thought about.

See, I have the opposite problem in that I have unlimited ideas, (but still not the time), so when I do have time I kinda flounder about from one idea to another, writing a bit here and a bit there, without settling on anything or actually making progress. I think the important thing is to realize how you work best as a writer and use it to your advantage. Even though...I haven't exactly done that yet. At least, not as much as I think I should have.
Best of luck with your Secret Santa fic!

Date: 2012-11-26 06:33 am (UTC)I usually have one idea, and work on that for as long as I need to, before moving on to the next one. I dislike when fics are unfinished, so I try not to do that myself (also, one shots and 100 word drabbles are my friends).
Thanks for the encouragement!
